  1. Thanks for your interest in NIP—Austin, Canita. We look forward to meeting you at our October 28th Roundtable. Check the map on the Next Meeting page for the ARC address.

  2. Hi! I’m interested in attending a meeting. I see the next one on May 12 says “Alternate Agenda Format.” What does that mean? Would that not be a good one to attend for my first?

    Thanks,
    Susan

    • Hello, Susan:

Thanks for your interest in NIP–Austin.

Alternate format meetings replace standard roundtables to fill open slots in the schedule. We tried it for the first time a few years ago, and contrary to my expectation that attendance would suffer, members have enthusiastically embraced the concept of a free-for-all discussion on any writing topics of interest to the attendees. I’ve attached our Critique Elements document, which lists 32 structural elements of modern fiction that members can use to suggest topics for discussion.

In addition, one of our members might give a presentation on the use of subtext in dialogue by showcasing scenes from the TV series “Rectify.”

We’d love to have you join us.

      Tosh McIntosh
      Moderator, NIP–Austin

  3. I would like to visit. I am new to fiction writing but I have created a couple of character sketches and also started a historical novel. I don’t have any experience with a writer’s group but soon I will need to get some feedback on my progress.
